Commodities
Oil falls, metals rise, and grains keep climbing
Energy sells off, but gold, silver, copper, corn, and wheat all move higher.
Commodities split sharply. WTI crude falls 2.3% to 71.84 and Brent drops 2.6% to 75.98. Nat gas slides 6.3% to 3.009, while gasoline plunges 8.1% to 2.8534.
Metals are stronger. Gold rises 1.5% to 4131.3999, silver jumps 3.8% to 60.365, copper gains 3.2% to 6.246, and platinum adds 3.0% to 1623.8.
Agriculture stays firm. Corn climbs 3.9% to 451.75, wheat rises 3.3% to 619.0, soybeans slip 1.3% to 1180.0, coffee gains 5.3% to 341.45, sugar inches up 0.3% to 15.15, and cocoa jumps 6.8% to 6366.0.
The day leaves crude and nat gas below their 200-day moving averages, while gold and silver also remain below theirs despite the bounce.
