Oil eases, gasoline sinks, grains jump
Energy prices back off while grains rip higher and metals stay mixed.
WTI crude falls 0.8% to $71.51 and Brent slips 0.4% to $76.00. Both benchmarks still sit above their 52-week lows, but below their 200-day moving averages.
Gasoline is the standout loser, dropping 7.2% to $2.8203. Natural gas falls 2.1% to $2.948.
On the metals side, gold is nearly flat at $4,128.90, silver falls 0.1% to $60.30, copper rises 1.1% to $6.285, and platinum gains 1.2% to $1,638.60.
The agricultural board is the hottest corner of commodities. Corn jumps 7.6% to 460.25, wheat rises 4.6% to 639.25, and soybeans gain 0.8% to 1,189.5. Coffee and cocoa both fall 5.4% and 5.3%, respectively.
