Index funds edge up as bonds and gold lag
Broad equity funds finish higher, while bond and gold funds struggle to keep pace.
U.S. stock funds all close higher. VFIAX rises 0.8%, FXAIX adds 0.8%, and VTSAX gains 0.9%. Among the ETF side, SPY is up 0.4%, QQQ adds 0.3%, DIA rises 0.3%, and VTI gains 0.3%.
IWM lags with a 0.4% decline, matching the weaker small-cap tone in the Russell 2000. EFA also rises 0.4%, showing that overseas developed markets are keeping up with the U.S. tone.
Bond and gold funds are softer. TLT is down 0.02%, VBTLX adds 0.1%, and GLD falls 0.3%.
Wellington, the balanced fund here, rises 0.5%, keeping pace with the day’s moderate risk-on feel.
