Crypto drops as the broader risk trade weakens
Bitcoin, Ethereum, and altcoins all finish lower while market cap shrinks.
Crypto ends the day lower across the board. Bitcoin falls 2.6% to 62,122.3008, Ethereum drops 2.2% to 1,765.29, Solana loses 3.0% to 74.57, and XRP falls 2.3% to 1.0607. BNB declines 1.5% to 565.47 and Dogecoin slips 1.5% to 0.0716.
The total crypto market cap falls 2.36% to $2.2T. Bitcoin dominance stands at 56.0%, while Ethereum dominance is 9.6%. That says the selloff is broad, not just a one-coin story.
The move lines up with the day’s wider risk-off tone. U.S. stocks are lower, volatility jumps, and oil spikes on Hormuz headlines. Crypto trades like another high-beta corner of the market, and today it follows the same pattern.
CoinDesk headlines add context, with commentary around Bitcoin panic-selling possibly ending and Strategy pausing Bitcoin buying to hoard a $3 billion cash cushion. But the market data itself is straightforward: prices are lower and the crypto tape does not escape the day’s defensive mood.
