Index funds slip, bond funds and gold funds do worse
Equity trackers hold up better than gold and long-duration bond funds.
The big stock index funds are lower but not broken. VFIAX and FXAIX both fall 0.4% to 699.22 and 263.26, while VTSAX drops 0.3% to 181.42. VTI declines 0.8% to 369.78 and QQQ falls 1.9% to 711.74, echoing the Nasdaq’s weakness.
Bonds underperform the broad stock funds. VBTLX slips 0.1% to 9.58 and TLT falls 0.6% to 83.97 as Treasury yields move higher. That fits the session’s rate pressure, with the 10-Yr at 4.609% and the 30-Yr at 5.098%.
Mixed asset funds show a milder drawdown. VWELX rises 0.1% to 47.13, helped by the day’s split between some value-oriented strength and a weaker growth complex.
On the commodity side, GLD falls 2.6% to 367.13, reflecting the selloff in gold. The fund tape today is basically a quick read on the session: equity exposure beats duration and precious metals, while growth-heavy products take the biggest hit.
