Big-stock funds inch higher, bond funds lag
Equity-heavy funds post small gains while the bond sleeve stays under pressure.
The major mutual fund and ETF proxies mostly track the stock tape. SPY rises 0.4%, VTI adds 0.4%, QQQ gains 1.1%, DIA ticks up 0.0%, and IWM rises 0.4%.
International equity exposure also firms a bit, with EFA up 0.7%. On the other side, TLT rises 0.1% but still sits below its 50-day and 200-day averages, and GLD gains 1.4% after a weak month.
In mutual funds, VFIAX and FXAIX both fall 0.8% on the day, VTSAX drops 0.8%, and VWELX slips 0.7%. VBTLX loses 0.3%.
The split mirrors the day’s broader setup, stronger growth and tech, weaker defensives, and a bond market that is still not offering much relief.
