Index funds grind higher, bonds lag

Broad stock funds follow the equity rally, while bond funds stay softer and gold funds keep fading.

The big index-fund wrappers mostly echo the day’s equity tone. VFIAX and FXAIX both rise 0.4%, VTSAX gains 0.4%, VTI adds 0.3%, and DIA climbs 0.2%. IWM rises 0.4%.

International equity exposure also firms up. EFA gains 0.7%, with the underlying global stock data showing strength in Asia and parts of Europe.

Bond funds are more muted. VBTLX rises 0.2% but remains below its 200-day average, while TLT gains 0.2% and also stays below its 200-day average.

Wellington gains 0.3%, and GLD edges up 0.1% even though gold spot prices are still well below their 50-day and 200-day averages in the supplied technicals.
