Index funds edge higher while bond funds lag
Broad stock funds hold up, Treasurys stay under pressure, and gold funds gain.
Among the major funds, VFIAX and FXAIX both rise 0.1%, while VTSAX and VTI each add 0.0% to 0.1%. SPY is flat at 739.09, DIA gains 0.5%, and IWM rises 0.6%.
International equity exposure is stronger than U.S. tech, with EFA up 0.5%. That lines up with a day when the Nasdaq Composite and QQQ both lose ground, while the Dow and Russell 2000 finish higher.
Bond funds remain choppy. TLT rises 0.6%, but VBTLX slips 0.7% over the week and 1.3% over the month. LQD is still below its longer averages, a sign credit and duration have not fully stabilized.
Gold exposure gets a lift. GLD rises 0.7%, matching the move in spot gold. The broader pattern across funds is a market favoring diversification away from the most crowded tech names and toward everything from value to metals.
