Real estate stocks slip as rates stay high

A mixed stock tape meets elevated Treasury yields and a cautious housing backdrop.

Real estate is one of the weaker sectors of the day, falling 0.4%. That comes as Treasury yields stay elevated, with the 10-year at 4.641% and the 30-year at 5.125%.

HousingWire’s headlines point to a market still dealing with policy and financing pressure. The mix includes new tax levies in New York City, shifting lot demand, and mortgage servicers facing higher costs from transfers and regulation.

Those pressures show up in the fund tape too. XLRE falls 0.4%, while MUB is still down 1.4% over the month and VBTLX remains under its 200-day average.

The broader message is simple. Real estate does not get much help from a market where rates are still high, bond funds remain soft, and sector leadership is rotating elsewhere.
