Dollar slips a bit as the yen and euro move unevenly
The greenback edges lower versus the broad dollar index, but trades mixed against major peers.
The dollar index slips 0.1% to 101.393. The move is modest, but it comes with mixed behavior across the major crosses.
EUR/USD edges down 0.1% to 1.1388, GBP/USD falls 0.5% to 1.3285, and AUD/USD declines 0.3% to 0.6974. USD/JPY rises 0.1% to 163.851, while USD/CHF climbs 0.4% to 0.8194.
Elsewhere, USD/CAD gains 0.1% to 1.4103, USD/CNY slips 0.2% to 6.7609, and USD/INR falls 0.8% to 95.842. USD/BRL rises 0.8% to 5.1208, while USD/KRW drops 0.3% to 1453.78.
The broad setup still leaves the dollar index above its 50-day and 200-day averages, so today’s dip does not change the longer trend.
