Most overseas benchmarks rise, with China and Europe firm
Asia and Europe mostly finish in the green, while the Stoxx 600 barely moves.
Global stocks mostly finish higher. The FTSE 100 gains 0.8%, the DAX rises 1.0%, the CAC 40 adds 0.4%, and the ASX 200 climbs 1.4%. The Nikkei 225 gains 0.5%, the Hang Seng rises 1.0%, and the Shanghai Composite advances 1.2%.
The Stoxx 600 is nearly unchanged at 0.0%, the one real laggard among the broad European benchmarks. Even so, it stays above its 200-day moving average, matching the wider pattern of most major indexes still trading above longer-term trend levels.
In Asia, the Hang Seng extends its strong one-month run, up 9.2% over that stretch, while the Shanghai Composite remains below its 50-day and 200-day averages. The Kospi, meanwhile, is still down 24.4% over one month despite a 1.0% daily gain.
Country-level moves remain mixed underneath the surface. India’s Sensex rises 1.0%, Brazil’s Bovespa adds 0.7%, and Canada’s TSX gains 0.5%.
