Oil surges on Middle East headlines while grains and metals split
Crude jumps hard, gas and gasoline move differently, and precious metals catch a bid.
Energy leads commodities higher. WTI crude jumps 6.5% to 84.41, and Brent surges 7.5% to 90.4. CNBC and Reuters headlines tie the move to Middle East escalation and renewed Iran-related risk, while another headline says Brent is back above $90 after Trump threatens to hit Iran hard.
The rest of the energy complex is mixed. Nat gas rises 2.3% to 2.723, but gasoline falls 3.6% to 3.2146. That split shows the rally is concentrated in crude rather than the whole fuel stack.
Gold rises 2.4% to 4,134.8, silver adds 1.9% to 58.41, copper gains 0.7% to 6.3655, and platinum edges up 1.1% to 1,629.7. Gold’s move pairs with the weaker dollar and the jump in market anxiety, while silver and copper also end the day firmer.
Agriculture is mixed as corn rises 2.7% and wheat slips 0.4%, while soybeans fall 1.7%. Coffee drops 3.8% and cocoa falls 0.6%. Overall, the commodity board is dominated by crude oil and the reaction to geopolitical headlines.
