Amazon, Apple, and chip stocks define the late-July earnings tape
Big tech splits hard, Amazon surges, and the earnings reaction stays volatile across semis, software, and health care.
Amazon jumps 15.3%, and CNBC says Andy Jassy soothed concerns over the company’s massive AI spending. That makes Amazon one of the day’s clearest earnings-related winners and helps lift the broader market mood.
The other giant tech names do not all move the same way. Alphabet rises 6.7%, Meta gains 3.3%, Microsoft adds 3.0%, and Nvidia climbs 2.9%, but Apple falls 7.3% and the watchlist shows MU down 5.9% and QCOM down 2.6%.
Outside big tech, the reaction tape is loud. Roblox drops 26.9%, Reddit falls 21.0%, and GoDaddy loses 16.7%, while IESC, AXT, Integer Holdings, Ambarella, and DexCom post outsized gains.
CNBC also notes that Alphabet, Amazon, and Microsoft added nearly $1.5T in combined value this week. That helps explain why the S&P 500 finishes July with gains even as parts of the market, especially chips, stay under pressure.
