Index funds edge up, bond funds lag
Equity funds track the day’s stock rebound, while bond funds stay under pressure.
U.S. stock index funds finish higher. VFIAX rises 1.7%, FXAIX gains 1.7%, and VTSAX adds 1.6%. VFWELX also climbs 1.4%.
The total bond fund proxy is flat at 9.51, while TLT and LQD both finish lower, mirroring the rise in Treasury yields. That leaves the fund complex split between risk assets and rate-sensitive exposure.
Among ETFs, SPY rises 0.7%, QQQ gains 0.7%, DIA adds 0.5%, and VTI rises 0.5%. EFA falls 0.6%, TLT drops 0.7%, and GLD loses 1.5%.
The message from the fund wrappers is straightforward, U.S. equities recover, but duration and gold do not get the same bid.
