Oil drops hard while grains and metals firm

Crude leads the slide, but several other commodity contracts finish in the green.

Energy is the day’s sharpest commodity story. WTI crude falls 5.52% to 80.0, Brent drops 7.2% to 83.63, and gasoline sinks 8.0% to 2.9639. The commodity headlines point to oil and Iran as the key backdrop, but the data alone shows a steep selloff across the complex.

Metals hold up better. Gold rises 1.42% to 4106.7002, silver adds 1.2% to 58.28, copper gains 1.63% to 6.541, and platinum slips 0.81% to 1637.0. Copper also remains above its 50-day and 200-day averages.

Agriculture is mixed to stronger. Corn jumps 7.32% to 473.0, wheat gains 1.92% to 651.5, soybeans rise 1.73% to 1192.25, sugar adds 2.39% to 15.01, and cocoa surges 9.38% to 5903.0. Coffee is the main loser, down 3.3% to 321.15.
