Dollar slips as oil falls and risk trades strengthen
The greenback softens against a basket of major currencies, while yen and yuan moves stay volatile.
The dollar index dips 0.1% to 99.882. That lines up with a day of stronger equities, firmer credit and sharply lower crude prices.
Among major pairs, EUR/USD slips 0.1% to 1.1534 and GBP/USD falls 0.3% to 1.3451. USD/JPY rises 0.1% to 157.753, while USD/CHF gains 0.3% to 0.809.
Commodity-linked and emerging-market pairs are mixed. AUD/USD is up 0.0% to 0.7049, USD/CAD rises 0.4% to 1.4064, USD/BRL jumps 1.1% to 5.1272, and USD/MXN falls 0.3% to 17.25.
In Asia-linked currencies, USD/CNY slips 0.2% to 6.7402 and USD/KRW drops 0.4% to 1429.45. The forex tape reflects the same broad split seen elsewhere, with risk appetite up but not uniform.
