Dollar index slips as euro, pound and Aussie firm
The greenback loses ground against several major peers, while yen and some emerging-market units are mixed.
The dollar index falls 0.2% to 99.69. That lines up with broad strength in several major currencies, led by AUD/USD up 0.9% and EUR/USD up 0.4%.
GBP/USD rises 0.3% to 1.3467, while USD/CHF falls 0.4% to 0.807 and USD/CAD slips 0.3% to 1.401. USD/MXN declines 0.5% and USD/ZAR falls 1.3%.
In Asia, USD/JPY edges up 0.1% to 157.694, while USD/CNY slips 0.2% to 6.7402. USD/INR declines 0.2% to 95.107 and USD/KRW falls 0.5% to 1421.99.
The cross-currents point to a softer dollar day overall, even though not every pair moves in the same direction.
