Dollar firms, yen weakens after intervention chatter
FX markets move in different directions as traders position for U.S. labor data and Middle East risk.
The dollar index rises 0.3% to 99.979. Against the yen, the dollar gains 0.6% to 158.52, while EUR/USD slips 0.3% to 1.1522.
Other G10 moves are mixed. GBP/USD edges down 0.1% to 1.345, USD/CHF rises 0.7% to 0.8127, and AUD/USD falls 0.4% to 0.7032.
In the Americas, USD/CAD is little changed at 1.4018, USD/BRL slips 0.1% to 5.1385, and USD/MXN falls 0.2% to 17.207. USD/ZAR rises 0.4% to 16.3611.
Asia FX also shows a split picture. USD/CNY slips 0.1% to 6.7497, USD/INR inches down 0.0% to 95.0773, and USD/KRW is flat at 1421.1801. FXStreet points to a firmer dollar ahead of Nonfarm Payrolls and fresh Hormuz risk.
