Gold extends its surge as oil stays hot
Gold and silver keep pushing higher, crude holds recent gains, and gasoline gets hit hard.
Commodities stay active across the board. Gold rises 1.9% to 4467.1, silver adds 1.1% to 65.49, and platinum gains 1.0% to 1763.4. Gold is now up 5.2% over the week and 10.0% over the month.
Oil pulls back a bit but stays elevated. WTI crude falls 0.6% to 82.68 after a 9.9% weekly jump, while Brent slips 0.5% to 88.46 after a 11.3% weekly surge. CNBC and Reuters both point to Middle East shipping and export disruptions as a key backdrop.
Gasoline is the day’s sharpest energy move, falling 8.1% to 2.8822. Nat gas rises 0.8% to 2.788. Copper is little changed, down 0.1% to 6.604, while corn jumps 10.1% and soybeans gain 3.1%. Wheat also rises 3.6%.
CNBC and OilPrice both keep the supply story in view, with headlines on refinery attacks, Hormuz traffic, and Saudi export rerouting. That helps explain why oil stays firm even on a down day.
