Oil and gasoline drop, grains and sugar rise

Energy weakens sharply while parts of agriculture and metals trade higher.

Oil sells off. WTI crude falls 2.5% to 81.19, Brent drops 2.3% to 86.96, and gasoline plunges 9.6% to 2.8496. Nat gas also loses 2.5% to 2.734.

Metals are mixed. Gold is basically flat at 4,408.2002, silver falls 1.6% to 64.525, copper is down 0.1% to 6.59, and platinum drops 2.2% to 1,722.7.

Grains trade higher. Corn rises 3.3%, wheat gains 2.4%, and soybeans add 1.6%. Sugar climbs 2.0%, while cocoa rises 1.6% after recent weakness.

Reuters and other commodity headlines focus on oil supply risks, grid stress, and the wider energy backdrop, but today’s cash-action story is straightforward: crude and refined products fall, while several crop markets advance.
