Treasury Yields Push Higher Across the Curve

Yields rise from 5 years through 30 years, while bond proxies ease.

Treasury yields climb across the curve. The 5-year Treasury rises 1.1% to 4.362%, the 10-year gains 1.2% to 4.696%, and the 30-year advances 1.0% to 5.265%. The move leaves all three benchmarks above their 50-day and 200-day averages.

Bond-sensitive assets soften. TLT falls 0.7% to 82.04, LQD drops 0.4% to 106.12, and MUB declines 0.3% to 105.86. HYG slips 0.1% to 79.71, though it remains above its 200-day average.

The yield move comes alongside firmer commodity prices, especially crude. WTI rises 1.4% to 82.4 and Brent climbs 1.8% to 88.59. Gold also gains 1.6% to 4432.0, even as longer-dated yields continue to climb.

The rate backdrop is not showing panic, but it is still heavy. The 10-year sits near its 52-week high, just 1.03% below it, and the 30-year is only 0.19% off its 52-week high.
