Dollar Slips as Euro, Pound, and Aussie Gain
The greenback loses ground against most major peers, while the yen and Swiss franc are mixed.
The dollar index falls 0.3% to 99.636. That move lines up with gains in several major currencies: EUR/USD rises 0.4% to 1.1573, GBP/USD adds 0.3% to 1.3536, and AUD/USD climbs 0.3% to 0.7087.
USD/JPY slips 0.1% to 159.305, while USD/CHF falls 0.1% to 0.813. USD/CAD drops 0.4% to 1.3872, and USD/MXN falls 0.2% to 17.0025. USD/ZAR also edges lower, down 0.1% to 16.1664.
Some emerging-market currencies show less pressure on the dollar, including USD/CNY down 0.2% to 6.7322 and USD/INR up 0.1% to 95.415. USD/BRL moves the other way, with the dollar gaining 0.6% to 5.2265.
The bigger FX picture still shows a softer dollar session rather than a clean risk rally. Several pairs move only modestly, but the index-level drift is clearly lower.
