Index funds hold up better than bonds
Stock-heavy funds gain while bond funds and gold funds slip.
The broad stock funds finish higher. VFIAX gains 0.7%, VTSAX rises 0.7%, FXAIX adds 0.7%, and VWELX is up 0.2%.
Bond funds are weaker. VBTLX slips 0.1% and TLT falls 0.7%, while GLD drops 3.4% even as spot gold rises 0.7%.
That split matches the rest of the day’s action, with equities falling less than bonds and energy outperforming most other asset classes.
Among mixed-asset funds, the defensive tone is muted but still present, with Wellington up and the total bond market slightly lower.
