Aon and USI put brokerage M&A in the spotlight

Insurance headlines center on deal activity and rising cyber risk.

Insurance Journal reports KKR scores a windfall in the 17 billion sale of USI Insurance, while Aon acquires USI Insurance from KKR in the same 17 billion deal targeting the middle market. That puts brokerage consolidation front and center.

The sector also faces a growing cyber angle. Insurance Journal says cyber insurers are adapting policies as AI agents go rogue, and major tech companies are calling for a defensive surge to defeat AI-driven hacks.

On the market side, Financials slip 0.3% and Aon shows up among the day’s biggest losers, falling 9.5%. That makes the insurance-news flow feel more cautionary than celebratory for the listed group.

The broader message is that insurers and brokers are juggling deal-making on one side and AI-linked risk on the other, with coverage pressure and product changes likely to keep coming.
