Stock funds slip, bonds soften, and mixed signals persist

Equity funds track the market lower while bond funds fade and mixed trading continues underneath.

The major stock funds end lower, with SPY down 0.7%, QQQ down 1.3%, DIA off 0.7%, and IWM lower by 1.1%. VTI slips 0.8%, while EFA falls 0.9%.

The session lines up with a broad selloff in U.S. equities and a small-cap underperformance story. The S&P 500 and Russell 2000 both close lower, and the ETF tape reflects that move.

Bond funds also weaken. TLT falls 0.8%, VBTLX drops 0.4%, and VWELX slips 0.6%. GLD falls 2.9%, matching the decline in spot gold.

Across the fund lineup, the message is simple: equities are softer, bonds are softer, and gold is softer too.
