Global stocks split as Europe wobbles and Asia mostly firms
Asia gets a mixed session, Europe leans lower, and Brazil stands out on the upside.
Global equity trading is uneven outside the U.S. Asia starts with gains in Japan, Shanghai, and Australia, but losses in Korea and a flat reading in Hong Kong. The Nikkei 225 rises 0.3% to 66311.9297, Shanghai adds 0.8% to 3986.2981, and the ASX 200 gains 0.4% to 9076.0.
Europe is mostly softer. The FTSE 100 falls 0.8% to 10792.5, the DAX slips 0.4% to 26258.1094, and the Stoxx 600 edges down 0.1% to 651.1. The CAC 40 is a small outlier, up 0.2% to 8334.5.
Canada also moves lower, with the TSX Comp. down 1.2% to 35825.7305. Brazil’s Bovespa is the clear outperformer in the global set, rising 1.3% to 179722.4844.
The broad pattern fits the day’s risk backdrop: stronger oil, higher yields, and more attention on Middle East tensions. CNBC World flags global bond yields at multi-decade highs as inflation fears return, which lines up with the move higher in U.S. and global rates.
