Index funds drift lower while bonds and gold soften

Broad-market funds match the day’s risk-off tone, with only a few fixed-income and mixed-asset products holding steady.

Broad equity funds close lower alongside the major indexes. VFIAX drops 0.4%, VTSAX falls 0.3%, and FXAIX loses 0.4%, while VTI slips 0.6% and EFA falls 0.5%.

Bond funds are mostly soft. VBTLX is flat, but that follows a month of mild weakness and a close below its longer-term averages. TLT also sits nearly unchanged at 82.2, offering little help to fixed-income bulls.

Mixed-asset names look steadier. VWELX dips 0.2% to 47.36, a smaller move than the pure stock funds, but still lower on the day. That tracks a market where yields rise and stocks fade at the same time.

Commodity funds show the split clearly. GLD drops 1.7% to 399.72 even as crude and several agricultural markets rally hard, underscoring how uneven the commodity tape is beneath the headline oil move.
