Crypto slips as the market cap shrinks
Bitcoin and most major tokens are lower, even though several remain above long-term trend lines.
The crypto market is weaker across the board. Bitcoin falls 0.44% to 78,095.9609, Ethereum drops 1.02% to 2,459.6399, Solana loses 1.86% to 101.4, XRP falls 1.95% to 1.3886, and Dogecoin drops 4.56% to 0.0859.
BNB is one of the steepest large-cap decliners, down 4.19% to 720.9. The only coin here that avoids a loss is not enough to change the wider tone, with the total crypto market cap down 3.59% to $2.68T.
Bitcoin still sits above its 50-day and 200-day averages, and Ethereum does too. But market breadth is softer, and CoinDesk headlines highlight a busy backdrop for the sector, from stablecoin infrastructure to the launch of a new memecoin that quickly lost most of its value.
