The dollar barely moves as yen weakness stays in focus

Major FX pairs stay contained, with the yen still under the most pressure.

The dollar index slips 0.06% to 98.783, a modest move that leaves the greenback mostly steady on the day. EUR/USD rises 0.12% to 1.1641, GBP/USD adds 0.06% to 1.3553, and AUD/USD ticks up 0.03% to 0.7222.

The yen remains the cleanest trend. USD/JPY falls 0.10% to 153.322, and the pair is still well below its 50-day and 200-day averages. The FX headlines also point to intervention and policy pressure in the background, with CNBC noting Japan’s foreign reserves drop by a record $80 billion in August following yen intervention.

In the Americas, USD/CAD rises 0.13% to 1.3796, USD/INR adds 0.35% to 94.823, and USD/ZAR gains 0.21% to 16.0401. USD/BRL falls 0.82% to 5.0848, while USD/MXN drops 0.15% to 16.884.
