Asia and Europe end mixed as U.S. pressure spills over

Most overseas benchmarks lose ground, with a few pockets of strength in China and mainland Europe.

Asia leans lower. Japan’s Nikkei 225 falls 1.70%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng drops 0.38%, and Australia’s ASX 200 slides 1.00%. The standout in the region is South Korea’s Kospi, which still closes up 1.74% for the week and 11.12% over the month even after a 0.58% daily decline.

Mainland China is the exception. The Shanghai Composite rises 0.20%, while the DAX ends flat and the CAC 40 edges up 0.14%. The FTSE 100 slips 0.10% and the Stoxx 600 is nearly unchanged at minus 0.05%.

The global backdrop still shows plenty of support under some markets. The DAX, CAC 40, FTSE 100, and Stoxx 600 all sit above their 200-day averages, while the Hang Seng remains below its 200-day line. That split mirrors the mixed day, with some developed markets stable and others still digesting weaker risk appetite.
