Bitcoin slips as crypto market cap shrinks
The largest coins ease even as the market remains well above the $2.9T mark.
The total crypto market cap stands at $2.9T after a 2.8% drop over the last 24 hours. Bitcoin falls 0.7% to $85,554.46, Ethereum drops 1.0% to $2,725.65, and Solana loses 1.2% to $117.06.
The broader majors are mixed to lower. XRP slips 0.3% to 1.5676, BNB falls 1.0% to 780.7, and Dogecoin drops 0.8% to 0.0996.
Even with the pullback, the asset class stays above its longer-term trendlines, with Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, BNB, and Dogecoin all above their 200-day averages.
CoinDesk headlines frame the session as one where Bitcoin consolidates near 86,000 and money rotates into other coins. The same coverage also notes narrowing leadership in crypto, even as bullish momentum remains intact on several names.
