Index funds rise as stocks extend their run
Broad stock funds track the day’s gains, while bond funds are steadier.
Equity funds finish higher alongside the major indexes. VFIAX and FXAIX both rise 1.5%, VTSAX gains 1.4%, and VWELX adds 1.3%.
ETF performance mirrors the same pattern. SPY rises 1.5%, QQQ climbs 2.9%, VTI gains 1.5%, DIA adds 0.8%, IWM rises 0.5%, and EFA advances 1.1%.
Bond exposure is quieter. TLT gains 0.7%, while VBTLX rises 0.3%. GLD falls 0.7%, matching the day’s lower gold price.
The fund tape says the same thing as the index tape: growth and broad equities are in favor, while defensive and commodity-linked exposures are softer.
