Oil Falls, Gas Rises, Metals Mostly Weaker
Crude pulled back while natural gas jumped and gold slipped below recent levels.
Energy prices split sharply. WTI crude fell 3.0% to 91.79, Brent dropped 1.6% to 97.67, and gasoline slid 4.3% to 3.3376. CNBC and Reuters headlines pointed to oil tied to Iran-related headlines and U.S. diesel export ban talk.
Natural gas went the other way, rising 7.3% to 3.182.
Precious metals were lower. Gold fell 1.2% to 4,323.2, silver lost 2.0% to 64.585, and platinum dropped 4.0% to 1,750.5.
Industrial metals were steadier. Copper rose 0.1% to 6.766 and remains above its 50-day and 200-day averages. Agriculture was mixed, with corn down 1.4%, wheat down 1.5%, soybeans down 0.6%, sugar up 7.1%, and cocoa up 2.2%.
