Index Funds Diverge as Tech Leads
Broad U.S. equity funds were mixed, with Nasdaq-heavy exposure outperforming.
The big index funds tracked the split tape. SPY was nearly flat, down 0.02%, while QQQ rose 0.8%, DIA gained 0.8%, and IWM added 0.6%.
Broader equity funds were firmer. VFIAX rose 1.5%, VTSAX gained 1.4%, FXAIX added 1.5%, and VTI climbed 1.5%.
Outside stocks, the bond complex stayed muted. TLT slipped 0.1% and VBTLX rose 0.3%. GLD gained 0.4%.
EFA rose 1.1%, showing that overseas developed markets held up better than the U.S. cash close.
