Overseas markets end mixed as Asia weakens
Most major Asian benchmarks finish lower, while Europe is a touch firmer.
Asia sells off into the close. The Nikkei 225 falls 1.6%, the Hang Seng drops 1.0%, the Shanghai Comp. loses 1.2%, and the Kospi sinks 2.8%.
Not every market in the region is weak. The Sensex rises 0.4%, and the ASX 200 edges up 0.1%, though both are still below their recent levels on a 1-month basis.
Europe is steadier. The DAX gains 0.6%, the FTSE 100 rises 0.1%, and the Stoxx 600 adds 0.4%. The CAC 40 is roughly flat, down 0.0%.
Currencies reflect a firmer dollar tone. The Dollar index rises 0.3% to 101.247, while EUR/USD slips 0.1% to 1.1369 and USD/CAD climbs 0.2% to 1.4182.
