Treasury yields jump again as the bond selloff broadens
Longer rates keep climbing, and credit stays under pressure.
Treasury yields rise across the curve. The 5-year climbs to 5.089%, up 0.5% on the day, the 10-year reaches 5.293%, up 0.7%, and the 30-year moves to 5.638%, up 0.8%.
Those moves line up with the day's bond-market headlines, which describe the surge in global yields as a broad rout. The 10-year is now well above its 50-day moving average of 4.81% and its 200-day moving average of 4.44%.
Credit stays weak. LQD falls 0.2%, HYG slips 0.2%, and MUB gains 0.8% after a weak stretch, with all three still below their 50-day moving averages.
The bond tone is still defensive: TLT drops 0.6% to 77.78, while the VIX climbs and the dollar index edges higher.
