Oil and gold slip as gas, copper, and sugar jump

Energy and metals trade mixed, with crude and gold lower and a sharp move higher in sugar.

Commodity prices split hard. WTI crude falls 1.7% to 91.26, while Brent edges up 0.4% to 102.7. Nat gas rises 2.4% to 3.039, gasoline drops 2.7% to 3.3121, and copper gains 1.5% to 6.579.

Precious metals are weaker. Gold falls 0.7% to 4,172.1, silver is basically flat at 60.71, and platinum edges up 0.1% to 1,706.8. GLD and gold futures both finish lower, keeping the metal under its 200-day average.

Agricultural prices are active. Sugar jumps 5.1% to 19.91, cocoa rises 4.2% to 5,609.0, coffee gains 0.9% to 290.75, and soybeans slip 0.5% to 1,277.25. Corn falls 1.0% and wheat is nearly unchanged.

CNBC and OilPrice both point to the same macro setup around fuel: G7 countries plan diesel stock releases as supply stays tight, while oil headlines also note Gulf supply improving and risk returning in the Middle East. The tape itself is mixed, with crude lower but Brent still above 100.
