Bitcoin slips as the broader crypto market shrinks
Most major tokens are lower, even after a jobs-driven risk bid earlier in the session.
Crypto trades softer across the board. Bitcoin falls 0.4% to 84,521.2, Ethereum drops 1.6% to 2,661.8, Solana slips 0.3% to 118.09, and XRP loses 1.3% to 1.4741. BNB drops 0.7% and Dogecoin falls 2.4%.
The bigger picture is weaker too. Total crypto market value falls 3.0% to $2.9T, while Bitcoin dominance sits at 58.8% and Ethereum dominance at 11.3%. Bitcoin is still above its 50-day and 200-day averages, but the session does not add much momentum.
CoinDesk headlines frame the day as a reaction to the weak U.S. jobs report, with bitcoin reversing early gains after the data hit. That fits the price action, but the late-day numbers show the move fading rather than accelerating.
The most active names in the marketwide list are not uniformly crypto-led, but Coinbase remains in the day’s losers at 3.3% down in the watchlist. The broader risk tone looks better in equities than in tokens.
