Equity funds edge up, bond funds lose ground
Stock index funds finish higher while bond funds and GLD give back some of the recent relief bid.
The major stock funds end the session in the green. SPY gains 0.7%, VTI rises 0.8%, QQQ adds 1.0%, and IWM climbs 0.9%. VFIAX and FXAIX both rise 0.2%, while VTSAX adds 0.3%.
International equities do well too. EFA rises 1.1%, with the fund mirroring the strong session in Japan and the weaker dollar backdrop. VWELX adds 0.2%, which keeps the balanced fund slightly positive even as rates stay elevated.
Fixed income stays under pressure. TLT falls 0.3%, VBTLX rises 0.2% but remains below its 200-day average, and GLD drops 0.7%. That combination says the market is still leaning toward growth and equities, not duration.
The one-day move in funds tracks the broader tape: stocks higher, yields higher, and volatility lower. It is a classic risk-on mix, just not one that helps long-duration assets much.
