Health care flat, but insurance costs loom larger
Health is basically unchanged while CNBC flags another potential jump in premiums next year.
Health is nearly flat at minus 0.0% on the day, making it one of the calmest sectors in an otherwise upbeat equity session. The move is too small to signal a real shift in sentiment by itself.
Still, CNBC’s insurance headline gives the longer-dated backdrop more punch. It says health insurance premiums may take a big jump in 2027, with many consumers likely on the hook for an increase of about 10% or more.
That pressure would matter for both households and insurers if it plays out, but the market data today does not show a sector break. Health is flat, while the broader market leans toward growth and cyclicals.
Insurance Journal headlines also note fewer ratings downgrades for U.S. P/C insurers in H1 2026 on improved performance, which suggests the industry picture is not uniformly negative. For today, though, the sector tape is a shrug.
