Yields keep climbing at the long end
Treasury yields move higher across maturities, while bond ETFs stay under pressure.
Treasury yields extend higher. The 5-year rises 0.2% to 5.066%, the 10-year rises 0.6% to 5.311%, and the 30-year rises 0.6% to 5.665%.
The move keeps pressure on rate-sensitive corners of the market. TLT falls 0.5%, while the investment-grade credit proxy LQD is flat and the high-yield proxy HYG adds 0.1%. Muni proxy MUB rises 0.2%.
The bond backdrop stays rough on a longer horizon too. The 10-year is above both its 50-day and 200-day moving averages, and its RSI sits at 75.6. The 30-year shows a similar setup, with RSI at 76.1.
Among the headlines in view, CNBC Economy points to a week packed with inflation and labor data, including Wednesday’s Fed inflation measure and Friday’s September jobs report.
