Oil slides, copper jumps
Energy trades lower, while industrial metals catch a bid and grains stay choppy.
WTI crude falls 1.6% to 89.7, while Brent drops 1.5% to 100.73. Gasoline also declines, down 2.1% to 3.2424.
Industrial metals move the other way. Copper rises 2.6% to 6.659, silver gains 1.7% to 60.99, and platinum adds 2.2% to 1720.6. Gold slips 0.3% to 4150.3999.
Natural gas rises 1.3% to 3.073, while cocoa jumps 3.2% to 5852. Corn falls 0.3% and wheat gains 1.2%.
Energy’s weakness comes with WTI and gasoline both below their recent momentum peaks on the technicals, while copper stays above both its 50-day and 200-day averages.
