Dollar firms, euro and pound slip
The greenback edges higher against most majors, with commodity currencies mixed.
The Dollar Index rises 0.3% to 102.194 and stays above both its 50-day and 200-day averages. That keeps the dollar’s recent momentum intact, with the index up 1.0% on the week and 3.2% on the month.
EUR/USD falls 0.3% to 1.1217, while GBP/USD slips 0.2% to 1.3215. USD/JPY rises 0.1% to 157.944, and USD/CHF gains 0.4% to 0.8316.
Commodity currencies are mixed. AUD/USD rises 0.3% to 0.6971, USD/CAD edges up 0.1% to 1.4265, and USD/MXN falls 0.5% to 18.0718. USD/BRL drops 4.3% to 4.9988.
Several crosses remain stretched on the technicals, including EUR/USD, which sits far below its 50-day and 200-day averages, and USD/CAD, which is above both.
