Brazil surges while Europe stays mixed
Most overseas benchmarks finish higher, but France lags and China remains below key long-term trend levels.
Global equities are mostly firmer. Brazil’s Bovespa surges 7.7%, Japan’s Nikkei 225 adds 0.2%, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng rises 0.8%, and the Stoxx 600 gains 0.4%.
Europe is mixed underneath that headline. Germany’s DAX edges up 0.1%, the FTSE 100 rises 0.3%, while France’s CAC 40 falls 0.8%. The ASX 200 adds 0.6%.
China remains softer than much of the region, with the Shanghai Composite up 0.3% and the Hang Seng still below its 50-day and 200-day averages. India’s Sensex rises 0.7% after being down on the week and month.
The overseas move comes alongside a stronger dollar, with the Dollar Index up 0.3% to 102.194. EUR/USD falls 0.3%, GBP/USD slips 0.2%, and USD/JPY rises 0.1%.
