Crypto sells off as risk appetite cools
Bitcoin, ether and the major altcoins fall, while the total market cap drops nearly 5% in 24 hours.
Crypto weakens across the board. Bitcoin falls 1.8% to $81,777, Ethereum drops 3.7% to $2,478.1, Solana loses 4.9% to $110.53, and Dogecoin falls 5.1% to $0.0845.
The total crypto market cap declines 4.8% to $2.8T. Bitcoin dominance sits at 59.0%, while Ethereum dominance is 10.9%. That mix shows the market leaning toward Bitcoin even in a down tape.
CNBC and CoinDesk headlines both point to pressure around AI-linked names and a broader risk-off tone in digital assets. CoinDesk also notes crypto crumbles as the anniversary of the flash crash nears.
The biggest coins all stay below recent peaks. ETH is down 7.8% over the past week, XRP falls 7.2% over the same stretch, and BNB loses 6.6%. Bitcoin is down 3.5% week to week but still up 7.0% over the past month.
