3D-Printed housing community launches in Colorado as 106 homes rise
The Cleora at Salida East project uses concrete printing and robotics on a 55-acre site to test construction performance in Colorado’s harsh climate.
HousingWire reports that Cleora at Salida East, an experimental 3D-printed residential development near Salida, Colorado, is underway on a 55-acre site.
The community will eventually include 106 3D-printed homes, which the developers say will make it one of the largest 3D-printed communities in the United States.
The project pairs concrete printing with robotics, leveraging automation to target better construction speed, labor productivity, and durability, while also testing performance in the state’s mountainous terrain and high construction costs.
Cleora Managing Partner Greg Kenny said the team is still refining its process, noting that it is not cheaper or faster out of the gate and described the effort as a steep learning curve, with robotics supplied through a partnership with RIC Robotics.
