Waller says Fed would need several months of lower inflation data

The Federal Reserve governor said he would not feel confident without multiple months of lower inflation readings.

Federal Reserve Governor Christopher J. Waller said he would need to see several months of lower inflation data before he felt confident about the economic outlook, warning that higher rates could be warranted if inflation remains elevated, according to NYT Business.

Waller’s comments emphasize that the Fed is looking for sustained improvement in inflation rather than a single favorable print, NYT Business reported.
