Breakthrough T1D awards grant to assess SAB-142 in stage 3 T1D
The grant will support a PRISE-hATG clinical assessment of SAB-142 in Stage 3 type 1 diabetes patients, targeting evaluation of C-peptide preservation and immune response regulation.
SAB Biotherapeutics and Breakthrough T1D disclosed that Breakthrough T1D has awarded a research grant to Michael J. Haller, M.D., Chief Pediatric Endocrinologist and professor at the University of Florida, to support the PRISE-hATG assessment of SAB-142.
The study is designed for Stage 3 type 1 diabetes patients who are between 100 days and 2 years away from diagnosis, including individuals with residual beta cell activity after the initial 100 days.
According to the disclosure, the assessment will evaluate whether SAB-142 can preserve endogenous C-peptide and regulate immune responses, with the work focused on patients carrying residual beta cell activity.
Separately, Yahoo Finance notes that on June 24, Eliana Merle from Barclays initiated coverage of SAB Biotherapeutics with an Overweight rating and a $13 target price, while pointing to Phase 2b data in the second half of 2027 as a key stock catalyst.
