Mainland schools with DSE access report higher pass rates than Hong Kong
One school said 87.0% of its students passed all core subjects, while another reported a 71.0% pass rate.
Two mainland China schools in the Greater Bay Area that can register students as school candidates for Hong Kong’s Diploma of Secondary Education exams reported core-subject pass rates that beat the Hong Kong citywide average, according to SCMP Economy.
The report says the four Greater Bay Area schools are the only mainland institutions approved by the Hong Kong Examinations and Assessment Authority to register students as DSE candidates. For admission to Hong Kong’s eight public universities, students must also achieve Level 3 or above in two elective subjects, though the schools did not disclose how many met that threshold.
This year, the proportion of Hong Kong day-school candidates who met the minimum admission requirements fell slightly to 36.8%, down from 38.6% last year. Separately, Longhua Xinyi School said 87% of its students passed all core subjects, while the Affiliated School of JNU for Hong Kong and Macau Students in Guangzhou reported a 71% pass rate on core subjects.
