Anthropic IPO could come as soon as October
The AI research company has reportedly begun investor meetings ahead of a planned stock market debut, with an SEC filing made one week before OpenAI.
Anthropic, the AI research company behind Claude, could launch an initial public offering as soon as October, according to coverage from Yahoo Finance. The outlet says Bloomberg reported July 15 that Anthropic is scheduling meetings with investors in preparation for its stock market debut.
Anthropic confidentially filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission about a week before competitor OpenAI, which has not announced its IPO timing. Yahoo Finance also notes that key financial details from the SEC filing are typically released at least 15 days before a company's roadshow, which can occur weeks or months before the IPO.
Yahoo Finance points to Anthropic's latest private funding round of $65 billion, valuing the company at $965 billion. The outlet says Anthropic is widely expected to seek an IPO valuation of $1 trillion or more, a level it frames as in line with OpenAI's expectations but below SpaceX's reported valuation of more than $2 trillion.
The brief also highlights that Anthropic's Claude launched in 2023 and has grown into a widely used alternative, even as ChatGPT maintained a leading 50% share of website visits among top AI platforms in March 2026, down from 66% in July 2025, according to Sensor Tower. Yahoo Finance adds that Anthropic says the number of tasks its AI can reliably complete is doubling about every four months, and it includes CEO Dario Amodei's recent call for government regulation over risks including cybersecurity.
